Claude Desktop + API Gateway

Connect Claude Desktop to API Unlimit in 7 steps. Takes about 2 minutes.

Enable Developer Mode

Open Claude Desktop and navigate through the menu:

After enabling Developer Mode, restart Claude Desktop for the new menu options to appear.

Open Third-Party Inference

After restarting, a new Developer menu will appear:

Select Gateway

In the Connection section, select:

radio_button_checkedGateway(Anthropic-compatible)

Enter API Details

Fill in the three fields:

Gateway base URL

https://apiunlimit.com/v1

Gateway API key

sk-xxxxxxxx

Replace with the key you received after purchase.

Gateway auth scheme

bearer

Use bearer — it works more reliably than x-api-key.

Apply Config

Click the button:

saveApply locally

Select a Model

Choose a model from the selector. Examples:

cvb/claude-opus-4-8
cvb/claude-opus-4-7
cvb/claude-sonnet-4-6

If no models appear, add one manually or restart Claude Desktop.

Test It

Open a new chat and send:

hello

If setup is correct:

  • check_circleClaude responds normally
  • check_circleNo API error messages
  • check_circleNo unauthorized errors

You're all set! Claude Desktop is now routing through API Unlimit.
